Hi guys! I just want to know have you ever tried ursa warrior with battlefury? Cuz when i tried using ursa warrior with battlefury it doesnt cleave.. is it because of fury swipes? I know fury swipes is orb and bf isnt orb effect right? so why doesnt it go through? isnt it unfair that if not most but all melee can have cleave with bf but y not ursa warrior? just thinkin out loud. oh and one more thing is ursa's build str? since enrage gives out more damage but takes life from him.. just thoughts though..

Doom has the highest melee range 150 i remember.
Probably because of buffer range, you get the visual illusion of longer range.

Nope. Ursa has 175 range. The range is to reduce imbalness like basher stuns, skadi etc. and also to prevent ursa from taking too much damage from centaur and tiny's return damage etc. The sad thing, you get less exp when denied.

175 is way to high.
Only doom has the ability to hit an enemy creep with an ally creep in between them irc. Other melee heroes have to be directly adjacent to enemy.

Don't look at me, I don't know.

My guess is that its easier to code Ursa when he is range. Cos if im not wrong, the fury swipe skill comes from this shadowfiend look-alive lava spawning hero. He has this same ability called incinerate or something similar. And he is a range hero. Sometimes its too hard-coded, so icefrog prefer to copy-paste then making a new one.

Ursa is ranged because of most items. BASHER for melee is 15% yet range is 10%, with overpowered for extra 500% for the next 5hits, w/o fury swipes, ursa bash imba ??
then got extra lifesteal last time if melee.. so.. lifesteal + bash (30%, assuming 2 bashers)
but now, ursa range so basher (20% [2bashers again]) along with vladmir offering but lil people buy that imo.. lols..

Ursa is ranged. Try making fury swipes (which is originated from firelord's incinerate) melee. I reckon your WC3 will crash sooner or later. That's what they say. 100 ranged, 10000 projectile speed so you will think he's melee.

just to set some things straight. ursa warrior is a ranged hero with 100 attack range. so basically, his attack buffs work like a range hero.
eg. he doesnt get vampiric aura
he gets trueshot aura[drowranger]
he doesnt get battlefury cleave attack
when buyin basher, the % obtained is 10%, not 15%.

orb effects work on him like a range hero,
eg. he can buy skadi + mask of madness, yet both orb abilities stack.
HOWEVER, learning fury swipes will override almost all orb effects.

like wad has already been said, he is coded as a "ranged" attack with 100 range is because of the coding of fury swipes ability


OTHER weird heroes.
doom : attack range is 150. [attack range doesnt say melee]
he is in fact a melee attack hero with "ranged" range.
contrary to the above example, he gains vampiric aura, 15% bash, cleave, and does not gain range auras etc etc.

some interesting reads.
OLD strength morphling where ultimate made him stre/intel/agil. [current ultimate makes image]
the stre version has a range of 175 but his attack buffs are all melee orientated.

OLD lycantrope in shapeshift form only.
again his attack buffs work as ranged. again i do not know why, but he does not gain vampiric aura/cleave during ult form. but gains trueshot aura/etc range buffs.
basher % chance is not affected if u buy the basher when he is in normal form.
important note: current lycantrope in ranged form has been recoded into melee attack buffs.

It's always advised not to get burize, basher, mkb for Ursa cuZ when the mini-stuns/criticals or bash sets in, the fury swipes are reset back to the 1st deep wound. Even though criticals and bashs are not orb-effects. So there.

That is because of the fact that Enrage is actually melee damage. So when you attack an enemy w/Blademail and you have enrage activated you will get return damage. However the return damage is... Insignificant.

As I MAY have said before the effect of fury swipe is taken from the Firelord's incinerate. So it is a ranged effect. Try making it melee and the game will crash.

And dont forget the cooldown of his skills, u can basically use overpower 1st, then enrage, then go in do your earthshock + 5 hits combo, then overpower cooldown (10s) will be over or almost over u can do another 5 hits combo. I guess if ursa is change to melee, the cooldown of the skills will be increase alot, which is not what icefrog wanted him to be.
