Warlock Third Skill

Since Warlock is already so nerfed, they should change the third skill which sucks. Not that it is useless, but it is just impractical. I mean, would you rather whack the enemy or cast that spell during a team clash?

Anyway, any suggestions for a different third skill? No wonder people find warlock boring..Cause you have only 3 real skills.

Actually I'm quite happy that upheaval is not such a popular choice of skill, especially early game.

The heroes that drive me nuts are things like omniknight, faceless void, PA... Where you have to decide what skills you want to go because all 3 non-ulti skills are useful.. And then you won't be adding stats at all meaning you might be slightly lower on life/mana.

My WL I just go word and stats till like level 11, then 12-15 is fatal bonds.. Since I use refresher half the time I have a dire need for the extra mana boost from the stats, or I'm usually stuck with no mana after dropping 2 infernals. I only go Upheaval after 16, and use it when pushing enemy base so their defense won't be as effective.

Obviously you can't use it in chasing because they'll run out of the aoe usually before it reaches its maximum effect.. It's more a group battle thing.

Warlock's whacking doesn't do as much damage as upheaval + infernal whacking XD

Warlock's third skill can be useful when enigma was about to finish his ultimate thus slowing down the heroes in his blackhole, ur team mates will be able to whack those heroes a few more times and might be able to get a kill out of it.

That is the only thing that i can think of that makes warlock's third skill useful but i thoroughly agree with u that it sucks totally and is totally useless as i do not see much or even no people using enigma in a serious match.

I suppose stygian does a lot of dmg but I don't like it.. Stygian is one of those 'pure damage' items.. No slow, life, evasion, etc.. So it's not something I like to buy. ><

sry for double post. Enigma is seldom used cos its veri easy to counter. Heroes lyk vs, silencer beastmaster and counter it easily in an engage .

Enigma doesnt seems to be a crappy hero to me.

Malefice is a good stun and can irratate a opponent and makes a gang easier.

If u learn Conversion and use it on your creep at level 1, u can stop ur enemy from having a creep's exp every wave if u have the mana, this skill doesnt totally rocks although.

Midnight Pulse is a good skill for engages. u can simply cast in on the area that u think most opponent's hero will step into and it can be quite painful. It is a good combo with blackhole too.

Black Hole doesnt need any empathaising.. It is a channeling skill yes.. but if u get BKB there isnt anything much opponent's hero can do to u. If u managed to get all 5 heroes in the Black Hole, they cant probably stun u can they? Thus ur teamates can whack them for 4 seconds and spam all their nukes if they have... By then quite some opponents would have died too. Even if u didnt manage to suck all enemy's heroes, they may not be able to stun u as maybe their stunners were all sucked too. If ure unlucky and get stunned by the hero that are not sucked then only can blame on ur luck or ur incapability to suck all together lor..

A silencer that camps at the base to negate Enigma's blackhole will spoil a Team's combo which rely on blackhole engage. However this doesn't mean that enigma is totally owned, it really relies on the player/skills and the team mates. I agree that Enigma is not a crap hero as it can lane with most heros.

should be around mid game and late game. thats where SB starts to have this so called permanent bash...
upheaval is quite nice.

IMO, warlock is a support hero at most, based on the spells its been built with. shadow word, for healing, bondbond thingy, for clearing creeps and weakening heroes in pushes, upheaval slows enemies during battle and the ulti only works well with refresher(as in to its limit) also for bring down twers and such.

of course, it can be a hero killer too...depending on what kind of build you want.
naturally i'd go for refresher and guinsoo to end the game fast...but i seldom reach that stage cos im pretty sucky at int farming. haha...

have you ever thought that during a midst of an engagement...
lets say, lycan.
your attack speed is around...50 to 60% or so.
how many hits can you achieve?
lycan 100% hp, chasing luna with 40% hp.
you think your few hits can save luna? lest you get 6 divines, thats another story. lol

upheaval is mainly for assisting your mates and theres nothing better when a hero comes full packed with aiding spells. infernal for tower pushing, fatal bonds for fast creep clearing, shadow word for healing mates and upheaval during a chaotic situation.

but all i know is, its build is mainly for casting and aiding...
refresher orb and dagon + necro are the offensive items it can get...
not to mention guinsoo also. haha..

basicly, i think people draft them is because of its great pushing ability. don't ya think? infernals with erm like...1 to 2 sec stun when its being casted? coupled with refresher, its 2 to 4 sec stun. and it can push twers too. get cuirass, increases its attack speed. vladimir cloak, life leech ability while the infernals last.

warlock is a regular pick because:

1) extremely good lane-power with shadow word.

2) an irritatingly-wide aoe stun, and which is wl's most valuable skill.

3) forces opponents to buy diffusals. :o

with relevance with the original post, i'd rather play upheaval than go for desolator which you've suggested in a later post, with the same reasons as Astatine - armor > deso. IMHO, wl is more effective as a supporter than killer.

just because you don't know how to effectively play upheaval doesn't mean its boring or useless, i find it extremely fun to reduce lycan's ms to a crawl while fv pounds on him for example.

shadow word is the most annoying spell ever. when wl 1st came out i remember casting fatal bonds on the hero + creeps together and then following up with shadow word. the cd is so fast that can spam every wave. no chance to farm at all for opponent. coupled with your rock which can tower dive to **** low health heroes, burning them and smacking them at the same time, wl is already so imba. therefore he needs a less-useful skill to balance him out. thats what i think ba.

warlock is a regular pick because:

1) extremely good lane-power with shadow word.

2) an irritatingly-wide aoe stun, and which is wl's most valuable skill.

3) forces opponents to buy diffusals. :o

with relevance with the original post, i'd rather play upheaval than go for desolator which you've suggested in a later post, with the same reasons as Astatine - armor > deso. IMHO, wl is more effective as a supporter than killer.

just because you don't know how to effectively play upheaval doesn't mean its boring or useless, i find it extremely fun to reduce lycan's ms to a crawl while fv pounds on him for example.

i agree wif u. however. must always rmb upheaval is for supporting . nids time to cast till highest amount of slow though. so if u realli wanna kill. GET DAGON FTW ! KS IS STILL THE BEST !

yup when you purge a repeled golem, the golem will still be alive , just that the repel effect is gone and it is sloweeeed

I've seen many wls in draftmatches using the 3rd skill .. mainly becos their killer heros do not have the ability to hold down opponents long enuff for them to take massive DPS .
So far, its still quite an imbalanced skill becos of the AOE and SLOW% for clashing. This is what i personally think. btw dps = dmg per secs

the point is to have a balanced hero with balanced skill. buffing it will make it imba, so they didnt buff it. so your point is null.

Then look at ur magna roc pummel those pity slow moving worms...

Btw, u guys talk as if it is easy to catch 5 hero at a time..
Its very rare in draft matches ...
From my point of view, warlock cast inferno ,fatal bond .. after tat he goes to heaven..
Usually , warlock initate an attk because of the huge aoe stun ...
It depends though.. If theres magnus , then magnus would intiate ..
But warlock is a gd intiater of battles , because of the huge aoe stun..

Btw, fatal bond is jus a god skill.. it ****s tankers like paper!
