Lan Gaming Festival 2007 Event Report.

Wow! Recently, other than Zenith, Micronology is having a good showing in the recent few DotA tournaments. They are currently one of the regulars for the the top 3 positions of these tournaments. Will they become Zenith's next closest competitor? We will definitely be looking closely at how progress in the future. Micronology has received 2nd position in the Lan Gaming Festival.

And not to forget, DSD, the winner of this tournament held in E2Max, we are seeing them making their making a big comeback. Those of you who have been following the competitive scene closely, I am sure that you would remember that last year DsD had very good running in few of the major tournaments. This year hopefully we will see them continue to have good performance in the upcoming tournaments.

Here are some event highlights covered by GameSync.

"DsD upset Micronology to take the crown at the Lan Gaming Festival 2007, organized by the NUS School of Computing, held at E2Max Cineleisure over Saturday and Sunday. GameSync presents an overview of the two days of match action to those who missed out.

Saturday saw top DotA teams proceed to the next stage of the competition after the first and only round played. dN*, Force of Will, Micronology and rEv0 were all drawn into the upper bracket. The lower bracket had relative unknowns with the exception a second rEv0 team and old timers DsD.

DsD was once a strong and well-known team who were famed for using hero combinations that had not seen extensive use before in competition. Last year, DsD stopped competitive play due to 3 of their members having to take their A levels. Recently, they have quietly rejoined the competitive circuit, playing under "smurf" team names such as Team Serious in the recent Intel Gaming Cup.

Sunday was an exciting day as the 4 top teams in the upper bracket met each other in battle.

In dN* vs rEv0’s quarter-final match, rEv0 drafted Bristleback, Priestess of the Moon, Pugna, Queen of Pain and Sandking. dN* drafted Spectre, Venomancer, Viper, Warlock and Zeus. dN* won the game and proceeded to the next round against Micronology.

The dN* vs Micronology semi-final match was problematic, with the game being restarted 5 times due to technical difficulties. 2 times was because of computer timeout, 1 was keyboard hang, another was Mouse hang and last was computer restart.

dN* used a pusher strat against Micronology, using Death Prophet and Pugna. They were successful at the start as they brought down 4 of Micronology’s barracks. However, two minor mistakes of being caught by Micronology turned the tides against dN*. Micronology pressed their advantage gained and they won the game.

Micronology now had only DsD to face in the finals. Micronology had recently won the GXL Mechmaster DotA Tour and were the favourites to win the tournament, especially considering that DsD has not been very active for the past year.

True to form, DsD once again picked a little used draft, consisting of Bristleback, Keeper of the Light, Pugna Omniknight and Zeus, opting for an early push strategy. Micronology opted for a more traditional approach, drafting Earthshaker, Faceless Void, Queen of Pain, Syllabear and Warlock.

Ultimately, DsD upset Micronology, to the shock of the spectators, and were crowned the champions of the Lan Gaming Festival 2007."

wow, that was not so nice.

I never like to xl and torture opponents cause i think it is a nasty thing to do, UNLESS they XL me 1st. Most of the time i would ask my side to end fast to save everyones' time.

if u were there watching..u would hav known..opponents gt totally no advanced items..only boots n rings..or even bracers or watever..micro cleared them in an engage..and proceeded to camp fountain..when they could jus rax..and they were jus raking up their kills and all..they could hav ended the game really early..yea..true..nth wrong if micro wanna camp fountain n get kills..but they were laughing all the way..like damn xl..gt a few teams there agree wif me tt micro was jus xl*-ing their opponents..humiliating them..and..sry..we werent the team tt met them..tts all..if there's a chance that the replays are posted out..u all shd jus take a look for urselfs..a pro team tt does tis?? humiliating a lousier team? wat kind of sportmanship is tt?

Well, there is teams who camp opponent at their fountain for kills and not raxing, you can't just simply associate all teams that does that as "xl". If they have the capability to go in and kill you at your own fountain, you can't blame that they are being "xl", instead you would know your skills aren't on-parred or better than them that is why that is happening to you.

So, next time when a team is actually losing and getting camped at their fountain, do reflect on yourself and try to improve for the next competition, so for the next competition that wouldn't be happening again, rather than just complaining that the opponent team is too "xl".

But to be honest, if your team is good and all, you earn the rights to "xl".

SG_Lancelot , in case you didnt know, NUS Lan Gaming Festival and Toa Payoh CC WCG events clashed on the same weekends.
Gamesync's Matafleur was at the Toa Payoh CC WCG event, hence the write up and picture @ gamesync.
Learn to appreciate his efforts being able to report both events, even though he missed out information on team soccer mainly due to his absence of NUS Lan Gaming Festival.

We thank him for acknowledging us but I must say that we do appreciate what dotasg and gamesync had done for the dota community, therefore we do not mind anything they post. pls do not associate team soccer with SG_LANCELOT because we do not know who the hell is he. and there is no way a team soccer will be so rude to the dota management to the extent of 'OI'- ing the management.

If u notice or watch all our games, we're always laughing loudly, joking with each other, "suan"-ing each other, regardless of NUS game 1, or game 2, let alone other competitions like GXL mechmaster or CAPL, regardless of who we're playing against.
We're a cheerful and happy team, jokers of some sort (ball^^) so now you're gonna relate us to being bad mannered and humiliating the opponent? Why, interesting.
