PaPa here again brings you another exclusive interview. This time I am happy to catch up with xqR team. Recently, they have shuffled their team line up with new members additions. We are definitely going to see a new and improved xqR in the upcoming DotA tournaments out there.
Thanks to Willy Tang(Darkwish/Manager), Alan Ter Liang Ming(Alan/Leader), Joey Chua Wee Leong(poiuytrew), Kooh Yong Leng(<3GybZy), Seah Yong Kiang(Rubyyk) and Ng Kok Chiong (Ray) for this interesting and fun interview. At the moment, they do not have family picture of the new team lineup, but once they have it I will update their handsome pic.
PaPa: Here goes, could you tell us the history of xqR DotA team?
Darkwish: Well basically xqR started off as WeCookGrass which was established on 4th September 2005 and then we went through alot of roster and lineup changes and along the way we picked up Ruby from dN* and Seduction from Mi2.
PaPa: WeCookGrass sound cute, why was this team name chosen.
Darkwish: lol initially it was because WCG was coming during that year and we decided to play around with the acronym and thus we came up with that name.
PaPa: Darkwish mentioned that Ruby and Seduction joined along the way. So ruby and seduction, after joining xqR how long it take for you guys to fit it with the family? What was your feeling after joining in?
Darkiwsh: Oh yes and i forgot to add on that we also picked up martellx aka poiuytrew who was from dreamz and in between we go out quite often and are quite close friends so fitting in was not a problem. LOL.
Rubyyk: I played with xqR people before 3 years ago.
3Gybzy: xqR is a team that are enthusiastic to train and fun to be with.
poiuytrew: I fit in xqR quite fast as i played alot with them before i joined them and i feel that the team is fun and always training to improve ourselves to maintain in the DotA scene !
Darkwish: Yeah, see, we are a fun team.
poiuytrew: We all stay near to each other so we go out often!
Rubyyk: Except for one staying far far far away.
3GyBzY Very far.
Darkwish: LoL. But near enough where we often hang out.
PaPa: So for you guys, how often was your training and was it more fun or more stress? How is the training regiment usually like?
poiuytrew: We train everyday!
Rubyyk: Yeah, before WCG we had a tight and rigid training schedule. poiuytrew: With SG teams though in the past, now we wanna go on to play the overseas team using GGC!
3GyBzY I think we'll train even more next wk onwards, after our exams that is.
Rubyyk: We are losers because we lose WCG.
Alan: ./ignore yongkiang(rubyyk)
PaPa: LoL.
PaPa: So which overseas teams will be your training target? How you plan on getting these teams to train with you?
Alan: World Elites, China!
poiuytrew: CHINA!
poiuytrew: ACG Champion!!! Aim to win them. LoL.
Alan: Using GGC I would suppose.
Darkwish: Well, we probably will try to get contacts someway or perhaps dotasg can help us!
PaPa: So looking at how china play, what is the difference(s) between the way they farm and we farm? Also what we can learn from them?
3GyBzY: They farm/move with brains.
Alan: Imbalance movements.
Rubyyk: They apply pressure while farming themselves / reducing opponents $ too, Sugoi!
PaPa: Maybe can emphasis a bit on the imbalance movement, so our reader and your fans can clearer understands.
Alan: They know exactly when to move and how much damage to kill, theres no over kill in their game so they dun waste any spells or time. Theres not a single sec u can see in them standing there doing nothing.
3GyBzY: Man, that's wad i wanna say =x
Rubyyk: LoL, they can change roles of some heroes in a flexible way.
PaPa: Ah I see, seem like they have near perfection in the art of DotA warfare.
Rubyyk: Like Viper getting meka and eul of divinity which is not commonly seen, irritating.
poiuytrew: We always train with Indonesia teams also!
PaPa: Which teams you all train with and how you all get to know them?
Rubyyk: Some guy called stamx from Indonesia team got my number and always msg me to arrange for online matches.
poiuytrew: The Indonesia team that came to SG for the ACG this year. XCN.
PaPa: How do you all rate that Indonesia team, they seems to give micro some headache during the group stage in ACG.
Darkwish: We aim to train with teams outside Asia too if the conditions in game is not too bad.
poiuytrew: We played online with them and we are hosting, so they would be lagging so we cant really rate them.
PaPa: I see, lagging still a big issue for playing with oversea online right?
3GyBzY: I played against some Indonesia teams with my previous team before with no lag and they owned us pretty badly =x
Rubyyk: Indonesia are well-trained.
poiuytrew: And rich.
PaPa: Like how are they well trained and how "rich" help them?
3GyBzY: Their population more den us, more people to train with.
Rubyyk: They always book a private place to train in weekly from what I heard from stamX of Indonesia. Hence, more experience!
PaPa: Recently many clan/team started to think about having a girl div, do you all have the same plan?
Alan: Rubyyk's favorite, DN GIRLS.
Darkwish: Well for me I think it does not really make a difference currently, unless that girl team can really prove to be a powerhouse.
3GyBzY: hmm.. gotta see how you think about it. Gals team can serve as a motivation to drive you to play better in order to look COOL in front of em, and pei Yang Gan Qing. Wootz.
Darkwish: And I think we can put that girl div plan on a hold currently until further establishments or till we can really branch out.
3GyBzY: Ehh.. I see some gals that are gppd, but not playing competitive out there.
PaPa: So what your opinion on the current girls team that are out there?
3GyBzY: Good
poiuytrew: Hardworking. I see dNgirls training once per week at lan.
3GyBzY: Hmm.. it's clear that they put their soul / heart into gaming and they give commands louder den some guys teams too which are good. Hehe.
Rubyk: Yeah, they can beat any average guy's team outside.
PaPa: Yeah, have hear of their abilities in beating average guys team. So any advice for them so that they can start to have regular showing at the top of the table?
Rubyyk: Join xqR!
3GyBzY: They should relax and play.
Alan: Put more makeup when playing!
Darkwish: I would say make firm decisions and make sure theres a reason for that decision of course in this case there would be errors then its up to them to talk it out.
PaPa: Let's move on to the bigger picture, now after this years WCG, Singapore's position on the global scene seems to be threaten. Is it true? And what can we do to hold our ground?
Darkwish: Well, it is true that Singapore position on the global scene is threatened or rather the image is already gone until something new comes out from us perhaps then well get back the hold .
Alan: Be more flexible, from wad i see the SG scene play style is abit "dead" tats y micro n zenith who have played alot with other countries stands out.
poiuytrew: I think the WCG Finals should host DOTA ! Like the CS.
3GybzY: It's actually Zenith that maintains the image of sg in dota
scene in my opinion.
Rubyyk: Yeah, not many teams in sg has exposure to teams outside of Singapore, mainly zenith has been playing only.
Darkwish: i believe that no exposure to outside teams should not be used as an excuse though as the foreign teams do no have exposure to us either but being still able to win us is another thing this would mean that there is something that they are doing better than we are.
PaPa: So what are the something you might guess?
Darkwish: I would say play style the ability to make drafts work even when they sound ridiculous. Many people think that if a draft sounds ridiculous it would not work but thats very untrue and its also because of that that we are losing out.
3GyBzY: More teams are moving to playing with outside teams already, we'll b 1 of them too. For more exposure and experience. Until den, we can't do anything much on our image after WCG.
Alan: Executing a draft the way its drafted and not executing ur own hero alone.
PaPa: What is your upcoming plans and also which upcoming tournaments you all looking forward to?

Darkwish: Defending Champions, LoL. Joking.
poiuytrew: And the gaming Fiesta.
Rubyyk: Fiesta.
3GyBzY: A tourney to measure our new lineup strength.
Darkwish: I believe we are still very fresh now but once we actually really settle down the difference will start coming in.
poiuytrew: We haven't test our new lineup yet!
3GyBzY: OMG, I am thinking I am falling in love with Willy(Darkwish), HaHa.
PaPa: HaHaa, what makes you love him?

3GyBzY: Gacha, gga, dngirls, dsd and revo.
PaPa: Yeah heard a lot about Gachapeon, Zenith also mention about them. But no asterisks?
Alan: Yeah, they are invited for the gaming fiesta and are training regularly on mon n thurs I think.
poiuytrew: Gachapeon is Ipod + GamersInc! both powerhouse teams in the past. Gachapeon, a team that contains people tt're gd individually
PaPa: So, Mr manager, so what will be xqR's direction for upcoming year of 2008?
Alan: "Chen Ba Quan Shi Jie (Conquer the world)", go go Willy
Darkwish: Well yea aim for the world! I believe in the strength of the new lineup now so I will be hoping to see us come out tops in majority of the competitions and of course in order to get sponsors coming out top would be crucial so i believe they would work hard towards the top too.
3GyBzY: Basically, an aim that most of other team have. A common aim to appear in top few in competitions.
PaPa: That's the spirit, work hard toward it and I am sure we can see the results someday.
PaPa: Okay, outside of gaming, you all hang out a lot. What you guys usually do together?
poiuytrew: EAT!
Darkwish: LoL, geeks that go lan =x
poiuytrew:We go out always end up in Lanshop !
Darkwish: LoL, I suppose thats the kind of dedication towards gaming
Rubyyk: If government can build a place for gamers to go to at night make it like a club or something, I think that will be good.
PaPa: Finally, anything else to add so that your fans can know a little more about you? Any dark secrets and stuffs?
poiuytrew: SKYPE is good, the should install in competition.
Rubyyk: Spying is healthy.
