1)Preface
First of all, bristleback is a totally imbalance hero during the 6.37-6.48 period due to the totally thick armour and hp growth and not to mention his most useful spell, the bristleback. He is a very popular hero in draft matches due to his high movespeed and attackspeed(warpath),his heavy tanking abillites and a very useful quil spray that can easily own other heros early game due to the stacking of damage. The disadvangtage for bristleback is his low manapool during early game.
BristleBack has being my team's favourite draft hero quite recently and thats the reason why I'm posting this guide.
First time doing a guide flamers and comments are all welcomed =)
2)Statistics and History
According to in-game history-
A tried and true champion of his race, Rigwarl has unsuccessfully led the fight to defend his land against the onslaught of the Scourge. With his diminishing ranks and inability to hold the Scourge throne, he capitulated to the offer to join the Sentinel. With his bestial fighting style reliant on his natural attributes and ritualistic purges of natural accretions, he has become an unconventional ally in the fight.
History throughout the versions
Bristleback was nerfed around 6.48b by reducing his armour gain, his strength gain was further nerfed from 2.7 per level to 2.2 in version 6.47.During the 6.27b period, quil spray was something like a machine gun, cast it and you get sprays coming out in a line dealing 3/6/9/12 according to level of spell. His ultimate warpath was also changed due to a major bug in 6.27b in which once his warpath activates, nearly units(enemy and allies)gain the attackspeed and movespeed altogether.Warpath activates randomly during your attack in the past.
3)Hero abillties
Viscous Nasal Goo

Level 1: 30 mana, 2 sec cooldown.
Level 2: 30 mana, 2 sec cooldown.
Level 3: 30 mana, 2 sec cooldown.
Level 4: 30 mana, 2 sec cooldown.
author's view-
This is a very useful spell mostly taken during mid games when bristleback has a decent mana pool, its stacking slow is a very powerful tool during ganks and catchers even during team battles.
Quill Spray
Sprays enemy units with quills dealing damage in a 650 AoE. Deals 30 extra damage everytime a unit is struck by a quill in the last 10 seconds. Damage type is physical.

Level 2 - 40 direct damage. 30 stacking damage.
Level 3 - 60 direct damage. 30 stacking damage.
Level 4 - 80 direct damage. 30 stacking damage.

Level 1: 30 mana, 3 sec cooldown.
Level 2: 35 mana, 3 sec cooldown.
Level 3: 40 mana, 3 sec cooldown.
Level 4: 45 mana, 3 sec cooldown.
author's view-
This is another very useful spell for bristleback early game, useful for farming as well as harassing, this spell will be further explained later on.
Bristleback
Rigwal covers his back in spines, causing him to take reduced damage. Automatically releases a quill spray whenever his rear receives 200 damage on his back.
Level 1 - 10% reduced from rear, 5% from sides.
Level 2 - 20% reduced from rear, 10% from sides.
Level 3 - 30% reduced from rear, 15% from sides.
Level 4 - 40% reduced from rear, 20% from sides.
Passive
author's view-
Most people view this as the most important spell for bristleback, the reason bristleback started appearing in draft matches was this reason, the imbalance amount of damage reduced and well as a quil spray every time he receives 200 damage on sides or rear.
Ultimate-
Warpath
Everytime Rigwarl casts a spell, he works himself into a fury. Movement and Attack speeds increase on repeated spell casts. Lasts 10 seconds. Stacks up to 4 times.
Level 1 - 30% IAS/5% MS Base + 5% IAS/1% MS Stack.
Level 2 - 40% IAS/7% MS Base + 10% IAS/2% MS Stack.
Level 3 - 50% IAS/10% MS Base + 15% IAS/3% MS Stack.
Passive
author's view-
Stacking movespeed and attackspeed everytime you spam your easily spammable quil spray, what else can you ask for?

23-25)Viscous Nasal Goo
Item Build-
First of all buy 2 clarity potions and tangos as well as a animal courier.
then Early Game
1)Bottle
2)Bottle
Then form a crow
3)Get a Helm of IronWill +
4)2x Ring Of Reg +
5)Planes walker cloak = Hood Of defiance
6)Boots of speed
Mid Game
1)Aim instantly for a Reaver +
2)Vit Booster +
3)Hearts recipes
4)Boots of Travel (If possible)
Late Game(Remember to sell 1 of your bottle here)
1)Another Hearts or Sacred Relic
2)Radiance recipe
3)Quite unlikely the match will reach this stage, but if so get a Satanic.
5)Explaination of spells
Quite alot of people always ask this question, why get Viscous Nasal Goo at level 15 and not after you maxed out quill spray and bristleback.
The reason is because of bristleback's low mana pool, therefore getting some bonus will help alot, secondly bristleback is suppose to be a farmer which means you are to farm nearly for the whole game and get your items out so you can tank properly.
Getting Quill Spray early on is obvious and playing against decent players who can deny, player often find themselves unable to farm partly also due to ranged heros who prefers harass over farm. From here on quill spray can do the job, stand back and wait for the creep to reach the correct amount of hp,then use spray.Although this is hard, training or decent players can easily make this look like a cakewalk
The rest of the spell build is quite simple to understand,Movespeed, attackspeed and tanking abillties
6)Explaination of items
Another commonly seen question of my item build is why 2 bottles is'nt 1 enough?
BristleBack is suppose to be a farmer,so your levels should be higher than normal players = you can't afford to go back to the fountain. So with your crow in hand (Computer actually) give your empty bottles to it so it can refill it for you.Another reason is that BristleBack is able to do double ancient spawn and kill it but to do it at level 9,you MUST have 2 bottles.
Hood of Defiance-
This is kinda obviously and i don't even know why i am bothering to explain it,perhaps maths would be better!
Finger of death level 1 = 500 Damage
Example some idiotic lion fingers your backside(no offense to people who do this)
500 damage convert to = 100%
100% - BristleBack (40%) and = 60%
300 damage left right?
with hood of defiance
300 damage convert to 100%
100% - Hood of defiance (30%) = 70%
70% now = to 210 damage
then hero armour Further reduces magical attacks by 25%
210 damage convert to 100%
100% - Hero armour(25%) = 75%
Convert back to Damage points = 150.75 damage
Nice amount of damage huh? :Banane05:
Hearts-
More Health Points,More Health Points = Thicker than Roshan
Radiance-
Why not make use of your high attack speed and movespeed to deal more damage? Burning AoE effect + quill spray is painful you know?
Satanic-
Hearts give strength but no lifesteal, when you have the damage, why not go on a rampage with a 25% lifesteal?
Game play
Nothing much on this section already, since the other places already explains what you should do but enough chit chatting, lets move on...
7a)Early Game- lv 1 - 4 Stay on bottom lane with another hero (at this part of the game,DO NOT LURE CREEP)
lv 5 - 9 ok now's the hardest part to explain, but you guys should have noticed that bottom creep spawning area right? At the 3 spawning spots,go to the middle of the right creep spawning side, you should see only a layer of trees spreading the area, use your tango to chop 1 tree down and return to the middle of the right creep spawning side, use quill spray there at the 55 second mark, then neutral creeps should be lured to come attack you from top and bottom, now just hold position there and use quill spray(at this part the bottom creeps should spawn again since the first wave was lured out and neutral creeps spawns every min) Farm like this till level 9,after finishing off the creeps, move to another spot to use potions so that the creeps will spawn again at the other minute mark.
(PS, i didn't know how to upload screen shots although i have taken them already,i know your eyes hurt but bear with me!)
7b)Mid Game- lv 9 - 13 At this part of the game,go to the ancient creep spawning area(you MUST have 2 bottle at this time) at the 55 second mark, use quill spray and lure the creep away till you can't see the ancient creep spawning area, move back to the spawning area once the creeps chasing you returns, you should see 2 spawns of ancient creeps there...DO NOT FIGHT THEM,i repeat DO NOT FIGHT THEM,just keep using quill spray on them and only allow them to attack your backside to spray...use bottle when you reach red hp...after luring the creeps just return to your lane so you can wait till another wave of creeps spawn and you can double lure again!
7c)Late Game- lv 13 - 18 FARM FARM FARM FARM FARM FARM FARM FARM FARM FARM Teleport here teleport there to farm lane,go neutral once in awhile AND GET YOUR HEARTS OUT!
lv 19-25 what else to say?start pushing and show off your backside!(Caution!show your backside once everybody starts aiming for you!)be the first to enter the enemy tower so everybody wastes their spells/stuns on you...
8)Conclusion
Hope everyone had fun reading my guide...REMEMBER TO GET EYE DROPS =(
I should be adding replays and screenshots once somebody bothers to teach me how to...
