Welcome to my guide to meepo
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/meeporoshan.gif
This guide is base on my playing experiences with meepo in inhouse/pub and a few draft matchs.
This guide still on it's very starting stage so feel free to provide me with feedback ^^

Hero Overview

Pros

* Best ganker in the game due to having for 4 hero with separate cooldowns
* Able to farm multiple lanes
* High damge output at late game
* Very good slow/damage over time and a aoe disable
* Able to multi farm and level quickly
Cons

* Item dependent
* Low health pool
* Poor stats gain
* If 1 of the clones or the real meepo dies,all 4 will die
* Difficult to play against high level opponent
* Can't "tank" mass aoe spells

Skill Descriptions
_________________

Earthbind
http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNQuillSpray.gif
Rains earthern spikes across a target area, pinning down all enemy units in the 225 AOE. Lasts 2 seconds.

Level 1 - 500 casting range.
Level 2 - 750 casting range.
Level 3 - 1000 casting range.
Level 4 - 1250 casting range.

Cooldown: 20/16/12/8 seconds.
Mana cost: 100/100/100/100.

Author's comment : A great aoe net to hold down multiple enemies. At level 4 it has a very HUGE casting range of 1250. With the help of meepo's clone you are able to lock down enemies and engage them.[/cplor]
Useful facts :
-It has a 2 second animation casting time.
-Stops channeling spells.
-Able to net avatared,bkb,repel(ed) units
-Hitting a net on a windwalked/invis unit will not reveal it but hitting it before it turn invis will reveal it as long as it's constantly netted
- know issues with impale type spells
- Netted units may still attack you and cast spells.
- By casting net to a unexplored area it the map, you will gain sight of the area much like potm's elune arrow.

Poof
http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNDispelMagic.gif
Drawing mystical energies from the earth, Meepo can teleport to another Geomancer, leaving destruction in his wake. After channeling for 2 seconds, Meepo instantly teleports to nearest target Geomancer, dealing damage in 400 AOE in the departure and arrival locations.

Level 1 - 40 damage.
Level 2 - 80 damage.
Level 3 - 120 damage.
Level 4 - 160 damage.

Cooldown: 140/120/100/80
Mana Cost: 20/18/16/14

Author's comment : Your free Boots of travel. Can be used to gank escape or simply transport yourself to your base to heal. Recent buff to it's mana cost mean it's now more useful and can leveled as normal instead of skipping it till the last four levels.
Useful facts :
-This spell is able to target any type of meepo. Basically any meepo clone that you control. Example illusions from manta style or illusions from a illusion rune .( Does not work on replicated meepo and dark seer's ultimate's illusions)
-Interrupting spells like stun will just pause the channeling instead of stopping it,
-By clicking on the mini map it will simply poof you to the nearest meepo.
-Can be self targeted
-Only the meepo that cast the spell has to channel.

Geostrike (passive)
http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/PASBTNPillage.gif
The Geomancer enchants his weapon with the essence of the earth, crushing the life from his enemies and numbing their legs. Slows target movement speed and deals 15 damage per second. These effects are additive with other geomancers. Lasts 2 seconds.

Level 1 - 5% slow.
Level 2 - 10% slow.
Level 3 - 15% slow.
Level 4 - 20% slow.

Cooldown: None.
Mana cost: None.

Author's comment : A slow and damage over time round into one.With your clone you will have 4 times the ability to slow a unit.The damage overtime also helps in last hitting early on.

Useful facts :
-Getting an orb effect item/having a buff placer will over write this skill
-The damage is not stacked instead it is added to the target. (Example you will not get 60 damage over time, instead you will get 4 times 15 damage each )
-The damage over time will deal fatal damage to the target.
-The slowest movement speed a unit can get is 100 ms.

Divided We Stand (passive)
http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNUpgradeRegenerationAura.gif
Meepo summons an imperfect, semi-autonomous duplicate of himself, which can gain gold and experience as he does and shares his experience and abilities. However, the clones cannot wield any items but the boots that Meepo himself wears. Clones gain 25% of any extra attributes the primary has. If one clone dies, they all die.

Level 1 - 1 Geomancer clone.
Level 2 - 2 Geomancers clone.
Level 3 - 3 Geomancers clone.

Cooldown: None.
Mana cost: None.

Author's comment : Meepo's trademark's double edge skill.If 1 of the clone die all 4 meepos die together. With 3 clones and 1 original this would mean a 4 v 1 situation when facing with an enemy alone.
Four separate units to control, it can very tedious.
Useful facts :
-Clones mirrors the real meepo's boots inventory and all the skill learnt
-When summon it will have full mana and hp and will be spawn near the real meepo.
- Experience and gold is not divide when your multi farm.( example 3 of your clone neutrals and your original meepo farms a lane normally this would mean that you have two source of gold and experiences)
- When the original takes a double damage rune and all 3 of the clones are near it, all four meepo will receive the double damage buff.
-Clones benfits from + stats bonus
[color=DarkOrchid]Skill order
_____________
Level 1 - Earthblind
Level 2 - Geostrike
Level 3 - Earthbind
Level 4 - Poof
Level 5 - Earthbind
Level 6 - Divided We Stand
Level 7 - Earthbind
**For the reminding level max Geostrike first , followed by Poof and get Divide We Stand when ever u can**

Skill explanation
_____________________
A rather straight forward skill order. Maxing Earthblind first as it's your only AoE disable use it to gank or escape.
Getting 1 level of Geostrike and Poof.Geostrike is to help you in your last hit and Poof is to help you and your clones to escape when you hit level 6.
Poof is leveled because of it's changes made in 6.49. Poof now has a lower manacost but at the cost of a longer cooldown so leveling it is the only logical way to make this skill more spamable.

Item build reasoning
________________________
The whole idea of my core build is to build meepo as a "4v1" hero , getting items that benefit both meepo itself and it's clone.
The first item to get is
Mekansm>increase your survivability with it's aoe heal and give a nice +5 to all stats to the real meepo , perfect item for meepo as the aoe heal benefit both the real you and your clones.
Followed by
Power treads(strength) >Why power treads? The remaked power treads now give +10 stats. In our case we use the strength power treads. + 10 strength is no joke early on , it give about the same strength bonus as two bracers. As all the clone will share the Boots inventory of the real meepo, power treads's strength and increase attack speed bonus will also affect it's clone.Note that the +10 stats in interchangeable by left clicking on the power treads in the item inventory.
finally
Vladmir's offering > This item has great synergy with meepo it provides mana regen, health regen,(damage aura)increase 15% of your base damage,(lifesteal aura) grants life steal to all meele units around offering's courier .**note that the +armor bonus does not stack with Assault cuirass armor bonus instead the item with a higher +armor will overwrite the other**

Possible items after core build reasoning
_________________________
Ageis of immortal > Reincarnation. Prevents you from dieing once.
Less death = more exp more gold

Assault Cuirass > + 5 armor aura , -5 armor aura 40% increase attack speed , +15% attack speed aura , + 10 armor.**note that the +armor bonus does not stack with Vladmir's offering's armor bonus instead the item with a higher +armor will overwrite the other**
Great item for meepo IAS to help meepo let more hits to maximize Geostrike.The armor boost will also make meepo harder to take down.

Heart of tarrasque > +35 strength, + 300 Hitpoints
Highest + strength item in game .With it's huge +stats bonus it will make meepo and it's clone harder to take down .

Armlet of Mordiggian > As long as this item is activated you will get +31 damage, +10% Attack speed, +25 strength and -30 hp regen/sec.When activated you will gain 475hp, when deactivated you will lose 475 hp.
Basically a very all round item for meepo. It provides abit of everything that meepo needs + damage, + IAS + strength, this item provides all of it.

Necronomicon > +14 strength, + 24 int ( level 3 nerconomicon) provides true sight, Mana break, Last will , Endurance aura, mana burn. Perfect item for meepo to counter ww and invis heros. Why not gem? As meepo with gem = four times the possibility to drop a gem, necronomicon would be a better choice. It boost meepo's two main weak point during early game, int and str.

Rejected items

http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNIceShard.gif
Eye of Skadi > Orb effect overwrites Geostrike, requires too many items to build, troublesome as my build has limited slots.

http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNAbility_Gouge.gif
Desolator > Orb effect overwrites Geostrike, Seem like a good item at first sight, - armor = more damge deal when your clones hit the target. But wait Geostrike does the same thing without you spending a single gold.

http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNSpell_Holy_BlessingOfStrength.gif
Sange and Yasha > Orb effect overwrites Geostrike, highly expensive item with little benfit in return.

http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNRodOfNecromancy.gif
Black King Bar > By avataring in the middle of your group of meepo , your opponent will instantly notice that the avatared unit is the real meepo and will gladly target your clones and kill you.

http://www.dota-allstars.com/images/lists/BTNINV_ThrowingAxe_02.gif
Manta Style > meepo clones > manta's illusion simple.

Common meepo Strategies
--+++----+++----+++----+++-
Controlling multiple units through unit groups
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/meepogrp.jpg
> Unit can be assign by selecting all the unit that you wan to select , then press ctrl- * ( * being 0 -9)
An example of my set up would be

1 - Meepo 1, Meepo 2, Meepo 3, Meepo 4
2 - Meepo 1, Meepo 2
3 - Meepo 3, Meepo 4
4 - Meepo3, Meepo 2
5 - Meepo 4, Meepo 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to net
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/net12.gif
Red being the wrong area to net
Blue being the correct area to net
>When targeting your net, always net at the point which the hero is fleeing, not the area the the hero is currently standing.An example is shown above.
__________________________________________________ ___________________________________
Poof-gank
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/Poofgank11.gifhttp://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/poofgank22.gif
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/poofgank33.gif
> By using 1 meepo as a bait then Poof all 3 meepo to the meepo that is bait. By Poofing in you deal 160 x 3 = 480 magical damage, couple with a few nets and hits you would easily get a kill.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poof-scape
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/poofscape11.gifhttp://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/poofscape222.gif
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/poofscape33.gif
> When 1 of your meepo is low on health after an engagement. It's best that you make all four of your meepo to spread out in four different direction then Poofing them back to safety. All aways remember that by sticking low health meepos together when escaping it makes you easy prey to blink stomp or any other AoE spells.As shown above.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Net-lock
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/meepomassnet.jpg
> When 1 of your net successfully hits an enemy, wait for about 1 second then switch to your second meepo and cast net again. Repeat this cycle and you would be able to lock down a area of enemies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Multi-lane farming
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/multifarm.gif
> by sending your meepos to farm at multiple locations in order to gain more gold and exp. An example would be sending 2 of your meepo to kill neutrals with the other two farming normally in a lane.Above is a sample of meepo's clone farming netural, while the original farms normally in a lane.

General Gameplay Walkthrough
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Item chart
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/sheny_1/itemchart.gif
Early game
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firstly.Get your branches and regen and head out to block creeps.If it's a normal -ap game i would suggest you start with 1 ring of regen, 1 tango and 1 iron wood branch (or) 2 tangos and 1 animal courier.
because of Meepo's poor starting stats, Soloing is not preferred but not entirely impossible. When at your lane to the usual Last hit and deny. If you feel that you have problems last hitting i would suggest you level Geostrike at level 2 to help with your last hit.
Early game it's nearly impossible for meepo to go for first blood simply because you don't have a nuker nor a slow decent enought for you to grab a kill. So suciding for first blood is not viable option.
Use earthblind to stop enemys from chasing you or simply net for an allies to kill them. When you reach level 6 and gotten you first level of Divided we stand, it's time for you to use the clone that you summoned to stay on lane and farm while your original goes back to your fountain to shop and resupply.
By level 6 you should have enough gold to grab yourself a headdress of rejuvenation. After you got your headdress quickly Poof back to your clone and continue to farm. You might also want to farm neutrals after finish pushing your wave of creeps.You can also add in afew set of observer wards or sentry wards just to ensure that you can neutral safely.
Repeat this cycle. Farm on lane neutral ,shop,farm , you should be able to level very quickly and earn gold very quickly.
Around level 10 you would have completed your Mekansm.With mekansm finish, now you would be able to start moving around the map to farm neutrals and gank enemy heros.
Middle game
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now with mekansm finish your next major item is Power treads.Now with a clone to aid you in kill and last hitting farming up power treads shouldn’t be a very difficult task.As you reach level 11 another level of Divided we stand is taken.Now with 3 meepos you can start
to do heavy ganking and start scouting for double damage rune and grab some kills along the way. At about level 13 you would have finished your power treads and now you would have to start building your last item of the core build Vladmir's Offering.Getting mask of death first or ring of basilius is entirely up to you.Continue to farm on lanes, neutrals when ever possible.
Finish up Vladmir's Offering asap.At this point of the game every 1 is pretty much checking neutrals when ever a hero is missing and ganking them off so i suggest that you or your team get some observer wards to get sight of some important neutral areas, rune spot and roshan area.
Yes, roshan area. With the core build now completed, you should be able to solo roshan with ease.Do remember to keep an eye on your meepos hp, Order a unit to back off abit when it's low on hp and let the orders to the tank. and repeat the cycle when another gets damge. Use mekansm when needed and continue this till roshan is killed .
After roshan is killed,escape to safety as soon as possible as enemy would properly be waiting to kill off a half dead meepo. If you are caught by an enemy, your best bet is to net the enemy and quicky flee for safety, split your meepos to run in different directions to confuse your enemy then Poof all of them back to safety.

Late game
~~~~~~~~~~~
As you hit level 16 now you would be able to get your last level in Divided we stand.Now you would have 4 meepos you are now ready to proceed with another set of item depending on your situation.The most common item that i often build is Assault Cuirass.
It provides IAS thus allowing you to slow the hell out of a target.The IAS from Assault Cuirass also allow you to clear heros/creep/towers/rax with extreme ease.
Alternately you can choose to get any of the item that i listed above in the "Possible items after core build"section.
As the game drags nearer to the 1 hour mark it's time to roshan for a second time.After roshaning, it about time to start pushing towers and applying pressure to opponent's base.
Pushing in late game is a good choice because it contains your enemys in their base , thus leading them to farm less and allow your team to be aware of where they are as they are most likely to be inside their base defending their towers.
When pushing, there are a few types of pushs that you can try.
Dual- lane pressure push, tri- lane pressure push or simply a 5 hero mass push.
Q and A section
Armlet of Mordiggian seems pointless to get.
Ans > Armlet is cheap and provides decent +str and ias , i don't see how it's a bad item for meepo
Arcane provides free mana for meepo!
Ans > RoB provide the same thing at a much cheaper cost and can be upgraded to offering
why not get items that benefit towards the total health pool?
Ans > i believe i recommended enough + str items.
Why not mass bracer or ogre axe?
Ans > i dont recomand you massing bracer or ogre axe, as my build has limited item slots. Meka and power
treads offers enough + str to meepo already.
Why to you not get BoT?
Ans > BoT is a good item on almost any hero. Meepo needs + stats to survive early on so power treads fits the bill.
How about lothars and DoE
Ans > I have very mixed feeling about this two items. Yes i do agree that they help you escape but the cost of both lothar and DoE is just too expensive and it delays your core build too much.
<<<Divided We Stand
-Attributes bonus does not benefit the clones.( only +stats bonus works)>>>
this is wrong, attributes bonus does add the 25% to clones, it will not show as green figure but will add in to the stats directly. Just do a simple test, when lvl 6 buy an ogre axe + 10 str, you will see the base str of the clone are 2 str higher then the actual Geo. Now Power tread with stats, as tread are also carry by clones, it will add a 10 to bonus attributes which is same as the actual Geo, but 2 more base stats point which means a total of 12.
<<<Heart of tarrasque > +34 strength, + 300 Hitpoints >>>
I believe this is just a typo error, should be 35 str.
As for items wise, assault cuirass armor bonus does not stack with Vladmir's offering, so you might consider not to get Offering if you are planning to get Cuirass. Some people will say get Offering for life steal, Cuirass for -armor and + Attack Speed aura so it is still ok to get both but if talk about item effectiveness it might not be there, and the armor bonus does not stack should be mentioned.
Anyway this is still a nice detailed guide.
