It just seems to be so hard... Against a good soloist Viper. Wonder what hero can face him off in mid. i mean solo against viper. He can possibly beat a lot of heroes who is in the same lane as him. So if i were to face viper off in a one v one in the same lane. how do i farm ? he harasses , farm, deny. it just seems so hard >.<

hmm.. i got another question then. but what i notice about we singaporeans is that we follow a trend. for example if one uses this hero, everyone follows. Agree ? so what i am trying to say is the technique here in singapore is 2-1-2 meaning the 1 solo in mid. but can we instead put out soloist on other lanes. and two ppl in mid lane ? its just my opinion on how to counter fearful soloist such as viper and warlock. like we can get a es and kotl in mid to counter these heroes who will be soloing in mid. Is it okay ? or not

Maybe you do not know, but back in the days of 5.84b/c in tourney its 2 in the middle and the soloist at the flank. But i think the 1 in middle trend was started during 6.27 when rifle could solo mid easily as rifle could time well as he is on top of slope with creeps fighting below and hero can barely touch him with maxed range.
Its after this that ppl usually put their soloist in mid.Another thing is both senti and scourge tower is very close to each other so creep will clash at the river unlike flanks where creep clashing can happen along the whole lane.Lastly(personal view) i feel safe as i can creep haress deny and hug tower at the same time if i am at mid.

Countering viper can be done in a lot of points in the game. There isn't exactly a specific hero that can counter him. It is rather neccessary though, that you have one hero that is at least able to handle him on a lane (not neccessary kill him), like bear (and a few others) in the early stages of the game. Curb his farming at least a little bit.
Mid game, if you have managed to curb his farming, viper should be able to be taken down by 2-3 heroes with disables.
If all else fails, the only way to counter viper is simply to ignore him and hope your late gamer farms more than he does.

That's lame. Vanguard denfinitely does not stop viper. In fact, Viper's slow is enough to kill somebody by chasing him, even though he has vanguard.
The few counters:
Bane Elemental & Dagon.
Grip, Brain Sap, Dagon. Should send viper running, or dead.
Lich can stop viper at early game, if you nuke him enough.
Warlock at early game can counter-balance viper's ultimate at start, and has decent health to tank Viper's harasses.
And the best item to stop viper are Eul's scepter of divinity.
As he is chasing you, just cyclone him and run. Remember that runners are easy targets for viper. =p Viper still owns at late stage.

No..i meant the eul for despo situations like when Viper backstabs you without ur teammate reporting or smth. So he viper strike and keeps shooting you with the slow poison... = GG, so if he viper strike, you Eul, he can't complete his kill, because Viper Strike hardly kills.

Ive seen many competitive Oblivions raping viper really hard and they get contained so much that on 50 min mark still no radiance or any 3rd level items.
I still think sylla-bear would be able to handle viper if he really knows how to use him. keeper of the light would also be ok if he knows how to avoid viper well and channel from afar.

In CAL, teams have been using THD (Jakiro) to counter Viper in mid. However, as the game goes on, THD will have to go on a farmathon if he wants to match Viper late game. Warlock works fine as well, but as for syllabear, Vanguard and corrosive skin will just counter Syllabear too much for most of the game. I'd say a skilled Enchantress might also work but it will depend on the player's standard.

zZ fellow mortals, after 2 sleepless nights and working out diff formulas or armor reduction and spells, i seemingly have thought of a unstoppable strategy against Viper soloist for middle lanings, any hero would be able to stop him wif the following item build:
3 dagon
2 boots of travel
1 BKB
ok u go AVATAR when u see him den when he poison strike u, use boots of travel to evade den dagon him 3 times =1200 damage viper = GG

Now as yall know Viper spams its poison attack now theres this skill known as nether ward which will blast the shit outta viper each time it spams its poison and Nether Blast's range is huge enuff to keep viper from harrassing you, see Viper coming blast the radius around you he'll back, and theres a Life Drain for tight situations. = )

but i had seen replay in ihl/cal where they uses thinker and sylla to counter viper
LOA might work if it not an ap draft.
u dont have to counter viper to win the game
wrong.If you dont stop viper from farming up,he can be a good carrier with frenzy
also,if your laning a poor pick against him,you would end up suffering badly as viper easily outfarm you.

Warlock is used in clan mainly for the aoe stun and early game lane control.
The infeno is just extra bonus here.The main fab about warlock is just the aoe stun.
1s stun +tidehunter + sandking =gg sentinal.
Beside,upheaval and fatel bond are great for team too.
To those who think veno>viper , you are most likely still playing against your pubby mate
Viper range is so much longer than veno that viper easily win against veno.
Beside,viper haressing skill is so much more effiencent that veno.When viper reaches 7,you are most likely still at 5/6
Veno lvl 6 ulti can be counter by having tango/tele scroll.

Wow, i didn't know that. thanks man. cool stuff... So it works on all manual cast? But in my opinion however. Drow ranger is still a bit weak in terms of attack animation and escape meckansms.
hmm, i believe the "not affected" part is true, but by manual clicking only. If auto cast, hohoho, slowly run ba :X

yep. Only manual will not be affected because when you cast that manually, the viper's 'Corrosive Skin' Ability will be receive the data that the attack being made is a spell, and therefore no poison will result.

hmm.. i got another question then. but what i notice about we singaporeans is that we follow a trend. for example if one uses this hero, everyone follows. Agree ? so what i am trying to say is the technique here in singapore is 2-1-2 meaning the 1 solo in mid. but can we instead put out soloist on other lanes. and two ppl in mid lane ? its just my opinion on how to counter fearful soloist such as viper and warlock. like we can get a es and kotl in mid to counter these heroes who will be soloing in mid. Is it okay ? or not
Yea its true, singaporean follows what works for others. But come to think of it. Mid is one of the safest place to solo. You can back away easily. Other lanes. You'll run till ur balls drop and realise behind you theres another viper and behind u qop is catching up. Your solo in the other lane must be hell of a player to pull this off. baby.

i don believe tinker can -solo- viper , not without any help. in the other case, there are unlimited 2 hero combinations that can easily win viper too.

pro tinker are also late game hero. With enough mana regen and bot at early-mid game, they can keep tele around to farm, push and neutral. rearm is simply gay with bot. End game tinker with good items like manta style, push in fight, low hp, run, bot back fountain, heal, rearm bot back push with team again. Simple annoying.

Tinker absolutely ****s viper solo, especially since laser is not affected by corrosive skin. Tinker's hp might be paper against viper's orb, but the fact is, viper's hp isn't all that great either against tinker's double nuke.

Dom, cannot la. Maybe bane might do it.
Damage from spells is fixed ; skillbuild and item choice build based on your starting gold is not. Apply the basics of item choices and manual orb walk to the concept of lane control, and you will realise that tinker will face absolute hell from viper, relatively speaking of course.

A well played tinker can prevent viper from farming too much using his goblins and missile... But really, its hard to counter viper and own him in 1 lane... Whats important is try to control his farming... A lot depends ok skill too...

once again, everyone have their own points and no1 can say they're wrong. 1v1 most of the time depends on one's skill. if both are decent players and both dont make mistakes that will when hero abilities come in. if you really want to judge, do not compare average against average, or competitive player against competitive player. compare the tops against the tops. lets say tofuboi's viper. are you sure your wl can win against him? i doubt even if he's the wl and against his own viper his wl have confident in winning. you just need a tango to heal lvl 3 word. infernal wise, as long as viper do not get too risky it'll be absolutely safe against a wl. after the infernal, viper can easily take down a wl if the wl decides to word viper without an infernal.

Probably TB can counter him in the beginning.. whenever your hp run low, suck hp from the creep. This make you last longer in the lane.

But can u control viper? if not it is useless. Late game heros need to be controlled in order for u to win the game more easily.Late game heros shouldnt be allowed to farm too much if not u gonna have a hard time later on.
Some pro users of TB may be able to control viper though its hard but not everyone is a pro TB player.
