Starting Left: Napolean, Winston Churchhill and Gandhi
For a clan to succeed, a strong leader is required. Over the years, i have seen many teams being formed and disbanded. Sometimes its due to the team breaking up to due other commitments. Sometimes its due to the leader.
Consider the following video(rather, audio): http://video.aol.com/video-detail/group-leader-for-zf-goes-crazy-on-vent/4007678153
If you were the team leader, what you have done? Would you have reacted the same way as that guy was? Or would you have taken another approach to it and handled the issue differently?
Here are some opinions i have for leaders or just for anyone who wants to read more about leadership.
First and foremost, always remember that a clan is not about yourself. Its about the people. Its the people in the clan that makes your team. Trying not to sound very cliched, but there is no I in Team.
I have identified 3 charateristics of most leaders. The first is known as Napolean aka the power hungry ego maniac. This person starts a clan simply to be in charge of it. They treat the members in a clan as 'soldiers' to further their own aims.
The second type is known as Gandhi, aka the peace making person. This kind of leader tends to favor peace between the clan. He tries to satisfy everyone in the clan, but sometimes you just cant please everyone.
The last type is known as Winston Churchhill, aka the decisive person. In my opinion, this is the best type of leader to emulate. He is swift and decisive, and knows when to strike and when to withdraw.
One very important thing that most leaders forget to do is that they always try to do everything themselves. Remember, a country was not build by 1 person alone. It is due to the massive people and efforts put in by everyone. Likewise, a clan leader should also try to divide up the authority between the members.
Very often, clans recruit people just to fill up the numbers or to boast about being the biggest clan. In my opinion, a clan should be made up of just a few close and tight knit people. This will foster bonding and better relationship in the clan.
Remember: A clan is not about quantity, its about the quality in it.
