Singapore - Occasionally, there are reports on negative incidents pertaining to gaming rearing its ugly head. Though, always casting bad light on gaming but we will recover from it eventually. However, the latest incident about internal physical violence within our local team Singapore Sword will make a deep impact that heavily cause damage to the image of gaming to what we work so hard to established.
Since yesterday, there were rumors and reports from various sources that there was some sort of physical violent happening internally among the Sword members during the Pan Asian Final in Wuhan, China . No one is able to clarify and confirm what exactly happens till "The Straits Times" newspaper report on details of it today.
Quoted from "The Straits Times" online
"Speaking to The Straits Times, Mr Aw said the punch had come out of the blue. Chia had walked over to him suddenly, hit him and left without uttering a word.
'I was totally stunned,' he said.
When contacted, Chia admitted hitting Mr Aw and walking away, but said he had slapped Mr Aw, not punched him.
He said he had hit Mr Aw out of frustration, blaming the Swords' poor showing on what he called Mr Aw's lacklustre managerial skills.
Within an hour, the chief executive of the CGS Andy Reif had sacked Chia and banned him from the CGS for life, effectively ending the gaming career of Singapore's top pro-gamer. Chia was sent packing yesterday.
Another Swords member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, felt the team as a whole had been playing below par. 'Maybe the pressure was too much for Wilson, who has sacrificed a lot,' he added. "
Click here (http://www.straitstimes.com/Free/Story/STIStory_233439.html) for full report by "The Straits Times".
From the report there are two side of the story and there seems to be more to it then meets the eye. One party is saying the attack was unprovoked and it was a punch, the other party said it was a slap, given due to pressure and resentment that accumulates over time when working with the Sword's newly appointed manager. And who is right and who is wrong, you guys decide.
I will be following this incident and bring you guys back more news and report.

"Everyone in the team was seperated. We werent united… A good way to describe it would be Singapore Sword itself had a Counter-Terrorist, Terrorist and Hostages within it. It is sad but true that we will never be able to win Pan Asia in this kind of condition. I cant even described how crazy it was when we ate seperately, we cant communicate properly, we cant understand what each of us are thinking in their minds. There is so much HATE that it isnt even funny…"

Poor tetra. Is the current manager still that fat guy? If he is.. I wonder why they r doing badly. They changed him already right?

It is really unfortunate such things have to happen, well I guess it all boils down to the lack of communications between the players and the management team.
I also feel that Tetra could have actually handled it better, violence is never a solution, even if its just a slap. Nothing good came out of it, even if he felt good for that moment as he released his stress and frustrations, but the repercussions was too seriously too much.
Though the slap should not have came out, the lifetime banning and instant sacking of Tetra, I feel, is too heavy and not good at all. They should have done some investigations... after all, it takes 2 hands to clap, since Tetra is not crazy to do such a thing out of nothing and for pleasure...
I hope things will turn for the better for the Singapore Sword and Tetra.

i think it's alrdy his limit i guess. Having giving in for the past 6 months, i'm quite amazed he slapped him only until now. We all know tetra is a dedicated DOA player. He probably felt that his efforts were not appreciated thats all =(

still a slap also causes hurt to the other party.
Got read news?An SIA stewardess was slapped by a tycoon's wife for talking(forgot talking or staring) to her husband, and was sued.(forgot if she won the case or not)But see what a slap can do.It's in the news around early this year.
But to tetra also its a good slap lol, should slap when noone is around ma.Or hire gangster whack him

Actually, a ban is justifiable if it it's really unprovoked. However, if there is valid reason that causes the action, then a ban with suspension period would be the most appropriate.
But no matter what, in the eye of the law slap, punch or any intend to hurt another party physically is liable as an offense. It depends on the affected party or the police wants to press charge or not.

it's life management skills. you can't bottle up your anger always. you keep withdraw and withdraw, one day you will outburst. what u really have to learn is to control. talk to him, tell him then he know.

for all professional gamers, there has not been a real lifetime ban so far, afaik even a flying kick only gave that guy 9mths ban, a slap wouldnt even cause permanent damage unless hes a really fit person. why a lifetime ban i must ask.
RuLeZanG
05-04-2008, 01:08 AM
even though the slap shouldnt have come out...i feel that the lifetime ban is too much...compare this to people who in sports where people get banned for a time limit with even more serious assaults...its total nonsense...if what he wrote in his blog is true, i really think the manager is a pain in the ass...ive followed swords' battles recently and always thought the doa female sucks...so now i know why shes still in the team...they should put back bun as the manager and drop the ban on chia...

sometimes you feel like slapping someone so bad.
sometimes the person you wanna slap is such a jerk.
sometimes the reason sounds so justificable for you to slap him.
but causing physical harm to others (for your own selfish desire/frustration) is never right, no matter whats the reason.

Well, I think he has been bottling it up to himself for quite some time and it just burst out at that moment. If only he could just calm down a bit and approach his manager in a more discreet manner. Hitting someone in public is totally killing himself.
Personally, I think a lifetime ban to him is totally unreasonable. It's like sentencing someone to death. Too harsh...
