hi guys it's ahcat here. the new item crow is out but not everybody may be familiar on how to use it though, so i shall write a guide on using the flying courier.
crow = boots of speed + chicken + recipe.
I shall explain with logic some of the steps in order to let others see the flow of process(and logic)
firstly its the creation of the crow. my theory is that the boots of speed are meant to be put on the chicken's foot, because some people cut them off to make noodles. chickens need legs to move. secondly like humans chicken legs can feel pain too, so when they wear the boots they will not feel pain. and can walk faster.
but why can it fly? you ask me. HA! i have thought of that too. See, when there is a change in force(no boots, walk fast = pain = less movement force, vice versa). this change in force stirred the great power deep within the chicken. as some may not know, the chicken is a critter. those who have survived starcraft will like to tell the power of critters, which are equivalent of a nuclear explosion. so when chicken is relieved of feet pains, it can use abit more powers. flying is nothing to the critter powers.
The recipe is mainly to create a fusion of the chicken and the boots. when the chicken has the boots on, it can only fly abit. when it gets used to the boots, its power may disappear since it got used to it(no difference in force). So the recipe is used to bind the power to it. this new chicken is named the "flying one which has attained minor recognition by force differences", but for simplier calling they call it crow.
Uses of crow:
-scout
-wish fulfiller
-shopper
-not so stealth bomber
=Scout crow-
The scout crow is very good for scouting, which is why it is called the scout crow. Remember that wards are used to observe enemy movements? well you can do that with crows too, but even better- you can place them above trees! previously unreachable places can now be set as scout areas with scout crow.
step 1 -=) create a crow. read above on how to create it.
step 2 -=) let it fly to the place where you want to have vision.
step 3 -=) make it stay there. there are many ways to do that, but i shall share the most common way. Right click on the spot which you want it to be-it will go to the place. after it reaches the place it will look after itself, which means it may go for a tea break. you don't want the enemy to pass that area when your crow is away for a break, so you should keep pressing right click on the spot. that will force it to keep going to the spot. although it doesn't look like it's doing anything, it is. notice that it is turning on the spot.
Another more compicated way to make it stand still is by pressing "h" when you have reached there. don't ask me why, i have yet to figure out the mystery of "h". all i know is that it will stay at that position even though it is being attacked, which makes it quite cool.
=wish fulfiller-
wish fulfiller? wtf ahcat are you a noob?
no i am not. firstly have you read previously in the forums that how it'd be fun to kill heroes with a chicken? the critter god heard(or read) the forums and told icefrog. therefore the crow has mana, hp and can fly! the critter king had also requested icefrog to let critters be able to chase down dying heroes for the dagon, so thecarrot.stick gave crow a skill called "burst of speed". thecarrot.stick just had to cast a simple spell on the crow. making use of the boots of speed on the crow, he removed the "oots" and casted "urst" on it, then converting it to a item. the recipe will hold the crow's flying magic and because it is flying it doesn't need boots anymore. so it will be the same. My theorem is that when you request for critter to have better powers, it should most probably be granted.
=shopper-
in respect to its original form, the crow did not gain powers and fly away. instead it stayed as a courier for the team. possible reasons may be that it is doing it out of gratitude, but it may also be that it is a enemy spy. beware of the chicken and always look out for where it is. historical texts have shown that chicken spies often bought items and sacrificed themselves to pass the bought items to the enemy, making it no more than thiefs. they are called chicken thiefs. i hope that there will be no crow thiefs.
=not so stealth bomber-
your first question may be: why not so stealth? because it is not invisible. the enemy can see it! that's why.
why bomber? will very easy. when chicken was first introduced, it observed a simple and interesting law of physics- gravity. it learnt more from tiny's toss, warlock's inferno call, etc. stuff that drops down hurts a hell lot. in addition to the wishes of players (letting it have mana and stuff), the chicken itself wished that it can still carry stuff and drop it when it can fly. so it can still do that. k here commes the interesting part.
1)buy ironwood branches. you should start calling them GGbranches because they will make your opponents GGed. let crow carry the stuff, it should be able to handle the weight cause of the reci magic(and thecarrot.stick's of course.)
2) fly over to the enemy, and use burst of speed.
3)drop the branches on the enemy. it should do some damage.
of course, don't buy ironwood branches all the time. ironwood branches are like a test bombing, for you to get used to dropping it on time. for more damage, i recommend using plate mail. because the description says: "thick metal plates that cover the entire upper body. avoid dropping on feet. adds 10 armor."
therefore if it drops on the enemy's head, it should do alot of damage. Maybe it will stun it too. furthermore it will protect the chicken while it is flying.
items to get for crow: get it a refresher orb, empty bottle and maybe flask of water. the crow should drink the water when it is midday because it may get dehydrated. the empty bottle is to get runes. the refresher orb is to make it alert when it is sleepy at night.
to LoveLaur.X3: i figured it out. in order to prevent crow thiefs from arising, the critter god made the crows unable to touch the gem. those who touch it will experience the failure of a 3rd grade chicken, a slippery courier. gems are rare stones too
That's all to my guide. i hope you will have gained some tips on how to better use the crow.
