View Full Version : The Meka-Buckler-Meka Move!

I was wondering if this move is considered a bug or not.
One player cast meka. Then another cast buckler which cancels out the first meka. Then another player cast meka again and it will trigger another 250 hp up. These can go on and on if you have more meka (and buckler). Some of the teams here in my country wants me to ban the use of these. I wanted to restrict it to one meka per team. What do you guys think?

i think shouldnt ban.. i mean no mater what he spent another 800-900 .. and you have to spend extra 800-900 for each mekan to be able to stack.. in total you spend about 3k just for one heal 250 consec for your team.. thats what i think la..

it's a sacrifice for the team, and dota is a team game.
Just revert to the old rulesets of some and restrict number of mekas to 2. That way it's no one will even bother getting more than 2 (which you should never need) and using the bug.

Well, if you are talking about it in a context of a tourney/league game, some of their rules only allow a certain number of mekas. If not, i do not see any problem with it.
in the pubby context, however, its more of an individual showing rather than teamwork (unless u r playing with frens), so i doubt anyone will go mass meka/buckler.

Mass meka/buckler is a good counter to mass aoe spells.

do like what most tourneys/compys do. restrict the number of mekas to 1 or 2 per team and it'll be fine.
but seriously, doing that meka buckler thing is so impractical. everyone's inventory would have either a meka or a buckler. so that makes 5 slots left.
(if you wanna fully abuse it that is)
i guess mass meka/buckler would work if your team sticked like glue.

Yeah, it should be banned. However, I think this will be fixed in the next version.

actually not reali, cos if usually there's aoe, the team wudnt b sticking tgt, and thus meka cudnt heal them if few of them is kena the aoe, by the time the healer go there is gg
Not true, mass meka/buckler mean that almost everyone should have one so for instance the grp is pushing and ganna qop's wave, someone could just use his meka and the damage will be very limited. work with other aoe spell like sk's earthquake or tree's entangling roots.
This is especially good against opp who have not many damage dealer.

y not this:
Each team can only purchase a maximum of 2 mekansms or 2 netherizm bucklers or 1 of each item at any point of time.

i would feel that 2 mekansm + 2 buckler at anypoint of time is fair..
i mean the first buckler would only allow you to use both of it simultaneously..
and that doesnt cause alot of unfair advantage does it.. and the 2nd one doesnt affect anything...
i think its pretty fair this way

maybe their draft heroes are Omniknight, Necrolyte, WitchDoctor, Chen, Warlock. + All the meka will be super healing team.

It doesn't come free so why not? He has to pay for it so I see no point in banning it. I think it should be allowed. No way is this a bug man.

Dont think it is a bug.. it was already known 2 versions back when the 'meka doesnt stack' was implemented.. and since after 2 versions nothing has been done about it I tihnk its supposed to be meant that way

Last time, about a few weeks before 6.41/42 was released, there was a lot of discussion threads on Tinker on Dota allstar. I knew the mek/buckler trick/bug whatever you call it all along. Since Tinker was one of my favourite heroes, it did'nt take long for me to notice how to ABUSE it.
But some idiot posted a thread on this strategy. And since Tinker has rearm, just a mek/buckler on him can heal the team infinite times. With BoT, he can quickly go back and forth in battles. With arcane ring, which also refreshes upon a lvl 1 rearm(150mana), he only loses a few mana for every rearm.
Then Icefrog saw this thread I suppose, then he made it so buckler does'nt override mek's buff as was stated in changelog. So you cant do this anymore. He even nerfed tinker till he cant refresh Arcane ring...Zzz
Because of the Gosu search engine they have there, I was able to dig out the thread:

i believe at that time mekansm was a must item then, people say tinker did that move is because they thought of rearm first..
but the truth wasnt that..

i think he should try to keep the version as original as possible and maybe just introduce new heroes, new items and some buffing and nerfing, he has totally changed the game and it seems abit dulan sometimes
