"Welcome to a new age of competitive online gaming. Take your place as a powerful Summoner, calling forth and controlling brave Champions in battle."
Since 2005, Dota has eclipsed and evolved to be one of the greatest e-sports game of all time and publicised in every household (There is a chinese term for it), and since then has come a long way to being officially announced to be an integral part of the World Cyber Games. However, we may be looking at something even bigger in writing; the LoL, the League of Legends, promises to be an enthralling and refreshing experiences that captures the same richness and features of Dota that made the game shine throughout the globe.

A RPG-RTS kind of game, League of Legends is presumably inspired by the minds behind dota, most of which includes Guinsoo. For those of you who need some knowledge on who Guinsoo is, he is none other than the original creator of Dota, and later on passed the rights to edit Dota to IceFrog, who is now doing all he can to edit the map for the vast community worldwide. Personally, this game seems to possess unbridled potential & possibly shaping up to be a next major e-sport after its predecssor. It is almost similiar to that all famaliar Battle.net in the sense that you play matches in Ladder type formats which allows the more skilled players to battle one another and at the same time, seperates the newcomers and more experienced players to provide a more distinct skill level difference amongst the huge exodus of players.
The unique and significant thing about this game would probably be the progressive feature, whereas compared to Dota, is a stand-alone game everytime you play and there is no record of your achievements, except in structured tournaments. Ultimately, it will all boil down to the most important point of contention about games: Gameplay that will see us flocking to the anticipated League of Legends when it is released or have us remain loyal with Icefrog's Dota version. Either way, this latest development by Guinsoo has surely got Icefrog striving to make more improvements in Dota to stabilise and cement its position amongst gamers.
Either way, we can probably expect more treats to come from Icefrog and when the League of Legends arrives, it will be the best time to test Dota's ability to survive while competitiors vye for dominance and, for the most part, the test of time. For who knows, perhaps by the time the latest talk in town arrives, the game we have grown to love might have already waned in popularity.

In each battle you will select and call forth one of dozens of Champions to control and engage in head-to-head combat against teams of highly trained warriors. Choose your allies wisely, for the stakes are high. In the League, every battle means more than life or death as the balance of power shifts with each victory or defeat."

Assemble Legendary items for your Champion by forging together basic items you obtain on the battlefield. Choose from over 200 uniquely crafted items to augment your Champion's power.
Ending statement by Guinsoo:
Contrary to popular belief, I did not get abducted by aliens or hit by a bus I’m Guinsoo, the former modder of DotA Allstars and I'm now a game designer for Riot Games. I moved to Los Angeles in January ‘07 to help found Riot, and we've been working on an RPG battle arena game, League of Legends, that we've been dying to tell you guys about... and *finally* can. I've watched it go from primitive proof of concept to a fun, beautiful game. Soon, we get to the fun part - letting you guys play it!
Here is but a small taste of what is being offered inside this game:
