Just like the World Cyber Games Game Vote. Every year, WCG Committee sets up a poll for gamer freaks like you and I, to vote for the games we love!

If Singapore holds the Asian Championships again. then most prob there will be DotA inside. well, -ap draft dota is pretty popular in Asia actually. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philipines, etc.

espically for prize money and stuff. no motivation to strive. hah.
plus its kinda hard to arrange matches with other countries as there'd be lag issues and connection problems.

Many people out there just like me, can make maps, DotA aint a proper game. So if DotA is used internationally blizzard will do something about it. That's quite an illogical argument there. Just because DOTA is a map in WC3 doesn't mean that it should not be endorsed at an international level. You're trying to say that Blizzard would disallow a map of its own game to be played at a WCG? Then how about some of the player created 1v1 maps that are used in big korean tournaments? Though not exactly the same case, CS also started as an unofficial mod to Half-Life that was not endorsed by Valve itself. It requires the Half-Life engine to run, the same way that DOTA requires warcraft to run, and thus also belonged to Valve. Yet, it exploded due to the response to the game and has become one of the biggest competitive games to date. I'm not even gonna go into the various competitive mods for games like Quake 3 etc. Bottom line, the issue of DOTA being "official" or not is not the issue that is preventing it from going up onto the international competitive scene. In fact, I think Blizzard would be pleased to have Warcraft take a spot in two categories of WCG. The myraid of factors that are constraining DOTA now have been highlighted in one of the articles at GotFrag on the current state of DOTA, which I might advise you to read. It's up to the community and organizers to push for the game in order to get it internationally recognized.

well, i guess dota is already an internationally recognized game. it's just up to the WCG committe to decide on whether to have it as a offical game in WCG.
i mean so many countries in the world are playing dota right now, the number of reigonal and national competitions are showing the demmand of it, but is the WCG committee oblivious to the response of such a hot growing game?

The new map in big korean tournament thing is a compeltely different and in no way simliar to dota being a custom map. Its only a different map with different terran,background etc. It has EXACTLY the same gameplay. ALl that requires is to choose a balance map for all race. Half life game play is almost the same as cs just that the weapons are different(correct me if im wrong, im nt sure). Cs was also being continually developed and patched by valve i think. If it was patched by the random people who created counter strike(like it is now in dota), i doubt it would be this big.If im wrong, that i guess this point doesnt applies.

The difference between other game mods and dota is that COMPANIES take over the development and balancing of the game play of the mods while its just a group of people that are developing and balancing dota. I am 100% sure that blizzard plays no part in that. Im sure no one would want to invest in a game that is developed by a group of non professionals :X. It is actually the official status that is preventing it from going up the pro scene. Unless blizzard take over the development of dota, dota will never be a world wide competitive game. It might be a regional competitive game, but i doubt it would never be world wide.Of course theres other factor too(time,more coms etc)

DotA is not entirely balanced, in some aspects rigged. unless in comps there are -du. True, CS may be rigged in some way also, but at least everyone can have the same thing.

Counter strike was a mod made by the producers themselves.

Any idea how many people out there actually hate dota, and will protest against it?

I find that the host dies 12 times, you die one, he makes you look like the shittiest player ever. theres always someone mocking someone for buying the wrong item. The games last for hours on end. Banlist is jsut stupid, now because people are using it on other maps.

I HATE DOTA. Takes absolutley no skill. You get to lvl 10, you have already maxed 2 spells. Some hero's are IMBA and some are so bad they aren't worth playing. People make racist remarks all game, i have never played a quiet/peaceful dota game. Its always EM and never DM. Only reason i do play DotA is for DM, because i don't mind getting a new hero each time, yes im halfy controdicting myself, but i do hate it, only play DM games my friends make to help fill the slots.

I know. I hate DOTA as well. Unfortunaly Blizzard will do nothing though because if they ban DOTA or something like that they will loose ALOT of customers. And there are so many stolen versions I don't think that theres even an official version anymore.

personally, I hate dota, I couldn't dislike it more. It was on of the first games that I played on B.Net, only then because there was 8 of them being hosted at once and I wanted to see what the fuss was about, and I didn't like it. NOW, I dislike it even more because it's like spam, I don't want to play it, and I have to sift through all of them to get to a decent map that I actually want to play. Whoever had the idea about a dota filter, that would be great! It would save me having to go around all of them, as there is always so many of them being hosted at once. It isn't fair to the other players who don't enjoy dota, and it is a large inconvenience to those trying to find a specific map that isn't dota. I say, blizzard should just setup, or dedicate an existing realm to dota in it's entirety. Make it so that only official dotas can only be hosted on that server, and all of the other ones would be breaking the EULA in some way. It would keep the flood of ripoff dotas down, and it would keep all of the dota players away from the slightly more sane regular b.net players.

It take real skill to win.and you only learn those skill through experience
