Singapore - An interesting event coming up this weekend. Those who have nothing better to do can head down to suntec to have a look. School holidays coming soon, time to read something out of your syllabus to improve your knowledge.

Reading is good, but because we are in IT age that's why we kinda lost touch with it. But sometimes when you try to pick up a book or two again, the experience can be satisfying and rewarding.

nah im just making a fleeting comment. its amazing how a "gaming extremism" fuels itself. from a bunch of hardcore, inveterate gamers like "hyhy, tofu, xy" and the many others, to the moderate ones like yourself, dota, an inherently less appealing game compared to the plethora of many other RTS games which will trounce dota any other day, in terms of its stellar graphics and veritably more interactive game play.
whilst i do foresee the rate of new gamers hitching up DOTA to be at a relatively diminishing rate, the "core" group of people like the fellowship of dotasg will keep this game going for many years to go. just cross reference that to seemingly anachronistic games like renegade and warcraft II, which surprisingly has a decent core of gamers, albeit the similar ones till today
it is also amazing to observe, as a casual gamer, how gaming addiction can dis-empower the youths of today. the competitions and sprawling LAN centres across Singapore only serves to accentuate this phenomenon. one can only wonder the number of wasted hours which could have been otherwise spent more productively.
its a delusional gratification, kids.

Well, I think for you it's a case of you pointing finger when the you did not even take a good look on himself, four finger pointing right back at yourself. I think you need to look at how you have help or contribute the community before condemning it. If you are just a casual gamer, then why you are so bothered by it? What help will it do with some random whining? Time to reflect on yourself.
Anyway, you have been warned, this is your last chance. If your intention is to be disrespectful and to create flames here, you will never be respected and will make you worst than what you have described or accuse others of.

amazing. even the moderator misconstrues my statement. if i were here to incite flame, i'd have went in the overt tone of unfettered vulgarities.
because of your evident ineptitude (or part thereof) to analyse a trend that i've come to extrapolate, you accuse me of flaming? its laughable when you clearly have not came across a bona fide flame.
get my point: GAMING is a serious addiction which has subtle undertones, when taken to an extremity. it has led to social maladjustment, intellectual lack-of, DVT and a HOST of negative externalities which has compounded costs for the future of singapore. its not just constrained to dota, it encompasses WOW, QUAKE, any transmorgrification of a programme which addicts an individual.
i do not have ANY obligation to contribute to this community, neither am i firing a salvo to this community. im giving in viewpoint in accordance to gaming in general.
an observation is said to be baseless and incendiary IF IT has no justification NOR meaning, which constitutes to a flame. NOW, DO I LOOK as if im insinuating any baseless gibberish here?

Okay, this latest post of your is much better.
On the part of us accusation of you flaming/troublemaking. Well, I should say we am not wrong in that because if you want to put across some serious points for attention, discussion and even reflection, all you have to do is just post it without the need to use some of demeaning terms you had used. What you had did earlier does not help to put yourself in good light at all, as many would just put you off thus making you posts being ignored or not taken seriously. And even less help when you keep repeating the same mistakes. Won't it be better if in the first place you had post in the way you are doing now.
On your last point about definition of a real flame, in fact modern day flaming does sometimes carry facts in contrast to what you have said. Even when containing facts, it does not hide the intention of the flamer to provoke negative emotions. Under such intention, then what good can be be if any such discussions are started base on negative emotions. It will escalate into all out flame war. Hence such post view as nonconstructive and deem as flame.
The point you make about game addiction is valid, we all know game addiction is very real. I will not go into details about that. However on certain part which I think you imply that I am going to debate about is no matter there are addicts or not, it was never any good organiser's intention to promote such negative traits. And yes, not all organisers are evil. If so why we did not just organiser events or tournament for those who are plain obvious addicts or create more addicts like making event like "Who first let's clock Million hours gaming non-stop competition". Sorry for this lame joke but I hope you get what I mean. Why do we want help player to cultivate punctuality and and other positive traits. If all we want are addicts, it would have been easier if we are like what you might have implied indirectly (hope that part I did not get it wrong) about us. Again, what good does it do when you make such assumptions and accusations hitting everyone in the gaming community and industry. There are things that you might not see as a casual gamer, or even if you are some pro in gaming will never see and understand. No matter how much you think you are right and have done your research, there are nothing absolute in this world. I cannot speak for all, but at least majority of us organiser are trying to strike a balance and a win win situation for all and never at the expense of gamers' well being.
There are actually great sense of responsibilities, intentions of goodwill and passion for us to do what we are doing, all for trying to achieving the dream and goal to make a difference. Even when business is business, while we are in the ability and power to do some good, why not do it? It make total sense both ways. We will stop when we are exhausted and totally drained of that passion, support and understanding. And I am not speaking for DotaSG only, I am speaking for all of use who have made sacrifice for seeing the gaming community and industry prosper.
We are trying to make gaming dreams possible for people who work hard (not addict, we refer to those in control of their lives) and had great aspirations for it. Why only when Singapore it cannot be done or have not been achievable. Simple, because all we know is complain, there are just not enough people sincerely to step up to do it contributing to the well being and growth of gaming here. Maybe there have been some random attempts but from many examples in history proof and show that these people are just looking to pull a fast one, for selfish intention and self glorification.
I will stop here before I go way off the main topic. Well, I am not sure how much I have said here would make sense to you. But maybe if you can take time and digest, you might be able to see our side of the coin. Good Luck.

Darthsmither, I think enough is enough of the nonsense you are posting. So far you are the type I am actually referring about not contributing but only to post nonconstructive nonsense in DotaSG. Seem like my reply to your other post still have not driven any sense into you.
Whether your post is directed at me or not, it's obvious you are attempting to provoke a response. Well congrats, you have succeeded and have caught my attention, same for you this will be the last warning.
I do not care if you slam me else where, but here in DotaSG you have to follow our forum rule if you wish to post here. If you are taking revenge for those website you are supporting, then it's not helping them as it show what kind of community they are breeding. Then that will be the more we will not acknowledge them.

Did i direct them at you? or anyone else? NO
Did i scold or use vulgarities? NO
Was i rude in anyway? NO
KTHXBYE :) LET THE PUBLIC JUDGE!
No wonder your forum is getting less and less active by the day. Your way of dictatorship (or rather, you try to) is turning people off. This is a freaking forum for god's sake. You claim that you are trying to further gaming due to passion etc.
RUBBISH I SAY. Instead of giving us a good reason, you just warn or even worse - ban users at your whim :). Hello? Go surf other popular forums - not just local ones (you know what i mean =) ) but also forums like DA Allstars, Dota Portal etc. They all say things even worse, or crude, or joke - yet do they get banned?
This is the reason why other countries forums flourish whilst Singapore's remain stagnant - in particular gaming forums. Dude, you are like, 30+, you eat KFC more than i see chickens, so please grow up, rethink your mentality and try to post in a constructive way instead of warning people or banning people.

Other have their level of closing one eyes or even two eyes. Sorry, we are not like that.
Did you direct them at me? You know in your heart.
Did i scold or use vulgarities? Yes, you did not, but I also did not warn you because you scold vulgarity. What you are giving infraction is that you are being rude, to me or not.
Was i rude in anyway? Yes, you were.
You said,
""No wonder your forum is getting less and less active by the day. Your way of dictatorship (or rather, you try to) is turning people off. ""
Well, you are just repeating things that all the nan saying or troublemaker have said. I rather have peace in here than having people of the like of you disrupting the harmony in here.
You said,
"Dude, you are like, 30+, you eat KFC more than i see chickens, so please grow up, rethink your mentality and try to post in a constructive way instead of warning people or banning people."
And this does not help to explain yourself and what you are driving at anyway. Why not take a look at yourself and not slap yourself too in the face by saying things like this. And what wrong with eating KFC, I love it like many other does. And there is no crime in being fat. And you are not the first one to take pot shot and personnel attack on me. To me this is very common.
Again freedom for speech does not mean freedom to say things without taking responsibility. And more it does not mean that you can be here to insult others and trying to create trouble in here.
Especially for the likes of you, who are actually a waste of my time, but still I hope you can repent that's why I bother to have this conversation with you. If you still do not see my point then I am sorry, you have to be responsible for your immature actions.
Lastly, you have event properly explain your action but to hide behind a nick and at the disguise of freedom of speech.
Well, only thing you are right on the spot is letting the public judge. The public have been judging all along, and I believe they will be fair judge. Actions speaks louder than world.

I used KFC as DotaSg papa is fat.

Anyway, the last story book I read was Da Vinci's Code way before they shot the movie. That's how long since I last really read a story book.
After that, the books I read were some computer books.
