Match between Cheryl Chocolate Candy (CCC for short) and Mystic, CAPL Winter Season Open Category Week 1, round of 16.

Winning the coin toss and netting themselves the first hero pick, CCC secures themselves the usual Warlock. Mystic chooses Viper, and as expected, CCC picks QoP without hesitating.

All seems to be the usual boring old draft, before Mystic pulls out the Lord of Avernus on their second pick, a Rogue Knight early at their third pick, followed by a Vengeful Spirit and a Sandking. CCC doesn't bat an eyelid, drafting Chen, Zeus, and the Twin Headed Dragon into their hero pool.

This leaves Cheryl Chocolate Candy with Chen and Warlock against almost no AoE to stop them, as well as more AoE from the THD, Zeus, QoP and Warlock.
Mystic however, does have an advantage with more late gamers on their side.

If anyone hasn't noticed yet though, Mystic has on them 3 melee heroes, meaning that one of their lanes is going to be completely melee, which is generally not a good thing when it comes to lane control.

At the top lane, CCC places their QoP and a Chen to face off against Mystic's Vengeful Spirit and Rogue Knight. Their strong double stun combination is offset by their lack of mana and lack of damage early on in the game, seeing as how the RK is a melee hero, and the VS barely has any range. They try going aggressive on the QoP but can't really get enough hits on her to do any lasting damage. Before they are level 3, Chen rushes out from the forest with a Pikachu-Satyr (it's cute, yellow, and shoots stuff at enemies), and in a flash, takes the Vengeful Spirit down. A shadow strike on the RK leaves him nowhere to run, as Chen and his Satyr chase him down. As the QoP throws a spear at a barely alive RK, Chen has saved his Test Of Faith for this moment, and saves the RK from the agony of being impaled by a spear, albeit still killing him.

It is not top lane though that nets CCC first blood. At bottom lane, constant spamming of spells by the THD and Zeus from CCC, as well as greed from the Sandking in trying to farm while being of a little too low HP, nets the Zeus first blood. Zeus doesn't enjoy his moment for long though, as the Sandking scurries as fast as he can back to bottom lane after revival, and finishes the until-then full HP Zeus by chasing him past an Spirit Tower, in the process afflicting the Zeus with the pain of two Burrowstrikes, Death Coil, and Aphotic Shield. The THD watches helplessly as he misses Ice Path (although admittedly hitting it would probably not have done anything) and as a result has no mana to cast Dual Breath to finish off the Sandking (who, having chased past the Sprit Tower at such a low level, doesn't have much HP left).

Meanwhile in the middle lane, things are looking up for CCC as their Warlock is practically free farming the entire time. Spam of Shadow Word Pain as well as good usage of consumables drives the Viper back to his base to heal again and again. Once the Warlock reaches level 6, a use of Shadow Word Pain, Infernal, and a few hits on the Viper as the Viper re-enters the lane, forces him to go back to base yet again, either running away flapping his wings, or via whatever complex system The Sentinel uses to transport the bodies of their dead heroes.

Despite middle and top lanes doing rather badly, Mystic's heroes seem to have some attachment to their lane and refuse to leave it. The same could be said for CCC's heroes, except that they really have no reason to leave a lane where they are doing so well in. With the exception of the RK from Mystic moving to middle lane for better farming prospects, there really isn't much movement in the early stages of the game.

The RK probably was really desperate though, seeing as how top lane is under almost complete control by CCC's Chen and QoP. Following the purging of Mystic's heroes on top lane earlier, Chen proceeds to advance quickly to level 5 and gets yet another Pikachu Satry, and once again goes back to help the QoP, this time being kind enough to let the QoP have her turn of getting a double kill.

A mistake by the Warlock in middle lane lands him dead from Viper Strike, but it doesn't change much of the fact that Warlock is overlevelled and Overfarmed, and Viper is still underfarmed and lower level than some of his teammates on other lanes that were not soloing. Bottom lane, both sides are trading kills, but even with hero kills, the LoA and Sandking, double melee up against strong ranged heroes, can't farm anything. Meanwhile, with very quickly farmed void stones, the THD and the Zeus proceed to amass a huge fortune.

18 minutes into the game, as cCc.Stykish's sights leave his Chen to look at the big green Infernal in the middle lane, he disconnects from the game, leaving his teammates confused but still very happy at having each received an equal portion of his 3200+ gold.

The QoP, probably being bored at having to farm in a deserted lane for an long period of time, shamelessly proceeds to use Chen's creeps for her own purposes, only using the hero sparingly. Throughout the game though, it seems that CCC regards the Chen as still a player in the game, judging by how many "TOF ME!" and "HEAL HEAL!" shouts they were emitting, mostly responded by someone telling them that they could just micro Chen themselves.

A Viper soon arrives at the top lane and forces the QoP to go home with quite a fortune of her. Nevertheless, perhaps in a rare less than feminine moment, the QoP chooses to go shopping at her base and spend money only on Flasks of Saphire Waters and Ancient Tangos of Essifation, leaving a large amount of money unspent.

Quite amazingly, this spendthrift behaviour pays off as the QoP almost free farms for the entire time until she has on herself 7000 gold. Before 30 minutes into the game, she enters her base with 4 Ironwood Branches, and exits with an Eye Of Skadi.

Perhaps fearful of the Eye of Skadi, the Sandking from team Mystic scurries away from the game and disconnects.

At this point, in terms of farming, CCC is utterly dominating, with Warlock having got himself a Refresher Orb, THD with Euls and Dagger, QoP with Skadi, and Zeus with a Soul Booster. Meanwhile, with no Diffusal Blade or any major items from the heroes from team Mystic, CCC realises that there really is nothing much stopping them from pushing.

So they push.

Their first push at mid lane results in Mystic's heroes being forcefully sent back to their base with a respawn timer over their heads. However, being still Low Level, with most heroes in the Red, and with a lack of good damage or regeneration, CCC realises that they are unable to take on the Ancient Protector and chooses to retreat.

CCC changes their plan. Preying on Mystic's heroes being uncoordianted and split up, a QoP with a Skadi, accompanied by a Warlock, easily pick off individual heroes of Mystic that are riskily farming around the map.
Meanwhile, Zeus farms hi Agahnim's Sceptre, and THD gets Guinsoo. The push restarts itself, with team Mystic still unable to farm their key items, having been caught around by the QoP and Warlock (and Chen too, even though he's not in the game).

This time, the bottom tower in the Sentinel base, followed by the two crucial Ancients, are taken down. However, Mystic's heroes revive quickly (by virtue of being low level) and force CCC to retreat.

Cue more catching by the QoP, Warlock and Chen, and more farming from THD and Zeus.

Completing a Refresher Orb, Zeus accompanies THD, who has farmed himself a Heart, to issue a final ultimatum onto Mystic. With the Warlock and QoP effectively distracting the Sentinel heroes on the bottom lane, Zeus and THD move in to the Sentinel base through the middle lane.

As the battle rages in the bottom lane between QoP, Warlock, Chen, and all the heroes of the Sentinel, no one notices Zeus and THD for a full minute as they sneakily take down the Middle Raxes. No one notices the creeps sneak down that middle lane and ravage the World Tree.

Well, even if they noticed, they probably couldn't have stopped it anyway.

RK and VS lament at having trusted "those suspicious heroes" with defending the World Tree. Perhaps they should have noticed the irony of hiring the wielder of Frostmourne to defend their precious Ancients.

It's a good interesting read, especially the last paragraph.
