In the Emo vs BoD match, BoD held the advantage in the mid game, but Emo, otherwise known as iPod, successfully dragged out the game in their signature style to win in 1 hour 20 minutes. Gamers Inc effortlessly crushed their opponents Eat Me in a match which saw none of their towers taken down. ExsequoR built on their advantage in the end game, won their clashes and defeated Ragefaction to proceed to the semi-finals. rEv0 triumphed over Eternity to earn their place in the semi-finals as well.
The quarter-finals were not without controversy. Due to the total number of participating teams being 66, the brackets could not be evened out. Eventually, for the last 9 teams remaining after the single elimination rounds were played, the format was changed to a "revival" system, which is essentially a modified double elimination.
Six teams will play each other in the first stage, while in the second stage the remaining three teams will play the three winners of the first stage. The losers of the first stage will draw lots to choose 2 teams who will also play in the second stage, hence the "revival" description. From here the four winners of the quarter-finals will then proceed on into the usual 4 team semi-final single elimination format.
For those interested in the full results and photos from the competition, GameSync will be publishing them together with the final results at the end of the day, when the tournament is over. Stay tuned till then."
