The CPL Australia has announced that Warcraft 3: DotA will be one of the 3 main games to be played!
June 9-10 2007
Western Winter Showdown 2007 (Focused on interstate teams and individuals with computer exhibitions, arcade machines and gaming kiosks)
October 12-14 2007
Hosted at Sydney Olympic Park Counter Strike 1.6 Quake 3 DM and Warcraft 3: DotA will be the main games and it's winners will qualify for the CPL World Final.
CPL Australia is in the process of finalising the major details of each event, including the local tournament organisers for each event, major sponsors and headline competitions.
Headline competitions will include Counterstrike 1.6 and Quake 3 DM, as per the CPL World Tour 2006 schedule. We are also introducing Warcraft 3: DotA to the Australian line-up, a competitive game that is enjoying a large success in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Additional competitions will be arranged by the local organisers and released in the coming months.
While the June event will be a WA-focused event, interstate teams and individuals are invited to make the trip across to the Sunset Coast. WA-based winners of the major competitions will receive berths for the October event.
Between June and September, local qualifiers will be held in each capital city and major location that has a suitable group willing to host them. CPL Australia is already talking to groups in most states, but if your group is hosting an event in this period, you can contact CPL Australia with your details.
The inclusion of international competitors will be confirmed in coming months.
CPL Australia will be releasing a press release in the next week, informing national and international gaming communities of further event details.
Will American teams attend this CPL? We await for more information and the prize pool.
Stay tuned!
