Gamers Inc` alpha surprised many when they won 3rd placing in the recent Gamers Inc/LanLab competition. DotaSG catches up with them for an interview.
DotaSG: Firstly, congrats for winning 3rd place in the recent gamers inc tournament. Can you tell us more about your team and your members?
sky`-: Thanks. We started dota quite some time back, like 1-2 years ago, but only started playing together as a team last year as Team alpha. We were from the same secondary school (Geylang Methodist Secondary) but me, slmk and kid just finished our o lvls in 2006. reP and eLq are in TP.
ManGKao`: Our team members are eLq , reP , kid , sky and slmk
DotaSG: Can you tell us more of your players' roles in game?
sky`-: slmk is the end gamer while reP is full support.
ManGKao`: kid and eLq usually switch roles playing the 2nd killer / nuker, while sky on the otherhand , soloing mid with his bane. For heroes , eLq is a versatile player being able to use many different kind of heroes. But favourite uses for him is rk/qop.
sky`-: reP/eLq take turns to run around the map while I normally stick to my lane if possible and usally reP(support) will have dagger of escape and be used as a bait.
DotaSG: Haha. By the way, have any of your members played in other teams before?
ManGKao`: We used to be from different bnet clans.
sky`-: We were actually from different teams. kid,eLq and reP in hven, slmk and me (sky) from doda.
DotaSG: How did you guys manage to recieve the sponsorship deal from Gamers Inc?
ManGKao`: We actually had to pass a trialing test, which was to play with the original Gamers Inc team. There were also some teams which tried out like BRTS, and some other teams in taman jurong gamers inc.
DotaSG: How does it feel now being a sponsored team?
sky`-: It's actually really good being sponsored as we get gaming privileges and also gives us more incentive to train regularly. We've to thank the boss, Alan, for granting us the sponsorship
DotaSG: Where do you guys normally train at?
eLq-: We train at Gamers Inc Katong. Now that we're training more regularly, we hope to achieve much better results in upcoming competitions.
reP`: Yep. The computers there are great in my opinion.
DotaSG: That's great. What plans are there to improve the team further?
sky`-: We train quite regularly, say 3-4 times a week, each time ranging between 6-12 hours. Though we've not set up any training schedule, we view replays together occasionally when we have the time, and talk it over some drinks at a coffeeshop nearby.
eLq`: We'll also be having some LAN training against other teams soon.
DotaSG: In the recent IGC HIGH prelims you guys lost slightly to Wrath*. What do you think went wrong in that match?
eLq`: I think that our heros laning went wrong, thats the main reason why we lost to wrath.
reP`: Yeah. I agree too. Our lane controlling lost quite a bit to them and they are especially agressive in all lanes
sky`-: And they finished us in 1-2 pushes after farming up their items, mistakes were abundant on our side too.
DotaSG: So will you guys be joining the upcoming IGC woodlands CC prelim?
eLq`: It'll be a high chance of us joining the upcoming IGC at woodlands CC and we'll do our best to get into the grand finals
DotaSG: How should interested teams contact you for training matches?
sky`-: They can find us in "#gamersinc." , or find us in katong gamers inc as we'll most probaly be there at night. Contact the staff there and leave a contact number or something
eLq`: Or they could email us at nelson_phua@hotmail.com
DotaSG: Any shoutouts?
sky`-: We'd like to thank warnutz from eternity for supporting us, for coming to watch and support us playing during our competitions.
ManGKao`: We encourage fellow dota players to come and patronise gamers inc and ... train hard!
DotaSG: Ok... We're done for the interview. Thanks for your time!
All: Thank you!
